Pour out Your Heart

“O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.” (Psalm 62:8, NLT)

I believe God is calling us to a time of honestly before Him.

How can He begin to do a work in me until I am humble enough to be completely open, honest and exposed before Him.

The thing is, God already knows all about me. He knows all about you. And yet He waits on us to be honest with ourselves.

Sometimes Most of the time I don’t want to acknowledge my faults.

But we can trust Him with our darkest secrets. We can pour our heart out to Him, and He will be a refuge for us.

A refuge is a shelter from danger. A place of safety. It is freedom from temptation. He is our way of escape – when we call on His name (see Proverbs 18:10 & 1 Corinthians 10:13).

Psalm 9:9 says that “The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”

Things that weigh heavy on your heart and mind can cause oppression, which could also lead to depression. But the LORD invites us to give our worries and cares to Him, because He cares about you (see 1 Peter 5:7).

  1. Thank you for this reminder that is always timely. Trust God – not sometimes, but “at all times.” Writing is a wonderful way to not only help other people with wise words but to help encourage ourselves as well. Don’t stop writing. You never know who is on the other side of the computer screen reading the words that can change lives.
