Philippians 3:10-11 (NLT) I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!
What was Paul saying here? What am I saying, and asking? That I may know Him [Jesus] intimately, and trust Him fully. That I would deny myself, and experience the mighty power of God. That I would have confident hope in Him.
Consider what a great power this is. So great that it is incomparable. So great that it has abilities beyond our comprehension. So great that it can raise someone that has been dead back to life. We need to know and understand the realness of this power and that this power is for us who believe Him.
Ephesians 1:18-23 (NLT) I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called-his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else-not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
Now let me show you in the scripture that this power is at work in you and me:
Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
2 Corinthians 6:7b (NLT) We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense.
We are told that God’s power is working in us that believe Him. This incredible power is the same power that raised Christ from the dead.
If this power could raise Christ from the dead… your chains can be broken by it. Whatever your stronghold is. Whatever the addiction or yoke of bondage.
We need to grasp these important truths about the power of God that works in us.
What is your “thing?” The thing that holds you back, holds you captive, holds you in bondage. That “thing” that you can’t, or don’t want to let go of.
There is an important truth found within these scriptures. God is able through His mighty power at work within us to break any chain and open any prison that we might find ourselves held captive by. If this power could raise Christ from the dead, then of course it can loose you from the things that hold you. Whatever your stronghold, whatever your addiction. His power can recover and transform you. Believe Him for it, and for the strength to surrender to His will for your life.
